Hi,
my name is Danny Soulas and I recently graduated from University of Wisconsin-Madison graduating with a Bachelor of Science with a double major in Data Science and Economics.
At Wisconsin, I quickly realized I enjoyed helping others so I became the academic chair of my fraternity chapter. I don't believe anyone before me had organized study groups or provided support for selecting classes, so it was quite new for the chapter. During my tenure as academic chair, our chapter ranked in the top 3 out of 26 fraternities in average GPA, which was gratifying to see.
Since I enjoyed it so much, I decided to take my role as academic chair to the next level; I essentially became the academic chair for all of fraternity life at Wisconsin. My title as Vice President of Scholarship allowed me to manage over 1,000 fraternity brothers and to give out some cool scholarships along the way.
The last hobby I wanted to mention is my affinity for traveling. I studied in Copenhagen, Denmark my junior year and it was probably my favorite semester of college. I could see myself temporarily living in Europe for a couple years if the opportunity presented itself.
My most recent travels were to Asia. I went to Japan, Vietnam, Thailand and South Korea. It was an unforgettable experience and I met a lot of cool people. I solo traveled for about two weeks, which was a fun and exciting way to step out of my comfort zone. The picture on the right is me with some friends + fellow travelers in Ha Long Bay, Vietnam!
Thanks for reading a little about me!
Aside from school activities I like to run in my free time! I ran a Marathon this past November which I never thought I would do.
I decided to run this Marathon with my sponsor Tuesday’s Children. This charity was created to help 9/11 families in the aftermath of the terrorist attacks, a day that my family was personally affected by. The charity gave so much to me during my youth, so it was really cool to come full circle and give back to the people who gave to me. I was able to receive tremendous support from my family and friends, raising $3300! Feel free to read a little more about that journey.
Additionally, if you want to read more about Tuesday’s Children’s you can find them linked here. Their mission is to “provides healing and resilience for military families of the fallen and families affected by 9/11, turning pain into purpose while honoring their legacies.” If this message resonates with you just as it does with me, please go to their website to donate and get involved!
